Music Biz Releases Third Update to 'Music Metadata Style Guide,' Including First-Ever Style Guide for Classical Music - Music Business Association
September 30, 2015 - The Music Business Association (Music Biz) has released the third iteration of its touchstone Music Metadata Style Guide, which provides a set of common naming conventions and data entry standards for companies to use when listing, ingesting, and managing digital music.
In late 2015, I was brought in by the Music Biz Association’s Digital Supply Chain & Operations Workgroup (co-chaired at the time by Jill Chapman and Chris Read) to provide two services: re-structure and edit the previous year’s Music Metadata Style Guide and write from scratch a brand new Classical Music Metadata Style Guide to accompany the release. These guides have since been used across the music industry as a standard for good metadata for artists, publishers, and others. You can view and download the style guides here.
